New Videos Bring Attention to Farmers Markets

Matty D. helps Farmers Markets of Kaw Valley launch

A new video series, produced by Matty D. Media LLC, rolled out in August to promote a collaboration of local farmers markets. It is an orchestration of various local and community partners, including The Douglas County Food Policy Council, the tourism resources of eXplore Lawrence, and the 6 local farmers markets locations. The project is also enjoying the support from KPR’s Laura Lorson. She volunteered to read a voiceover heard in one of the three segments. With a new logo designed by graphic artist Anj Riffel, the newly-branded “Farmers Markets of Kaw Valley” was launched!

The videos are hosted on both eXplore Lawrence’s social media accounts as well as the individual markets’ social accounts. The three videos include a highlight of customer testimonials, the narration by Laura Lorson, and a montage that showcases facts and data about the local markets. The video segment with infographics was the debut of a new video production package by Matty D. Media.

All six markets – the Lawrence Farmers Market downtown and Tuesday locations, Perry Lecompton, Eudora, Clinton Parkway Nursery and Cottin’s Hardware – were filmed during production of the series.

Matt DeSarle, owner and producer of video production company Matty D. Media, said that the video project was a perfect opportunity for his business.

“We produce videos for small businesses and local organizations. The Farmers Market of Kaw Valley video production was a perfect marriage of the two,” DeSarle said.

“It was also a unique opportunity to produce an editorial vision in-line with thorough marketing data gathered in the previous season for the farmers markets.”

After the videos launched on social media, Helen Schnoes, the Douglas County Food Policy Council Director, provided a review of Matty D. Media’s work. Schnoes focused her feedback on CEO Matt DeSarle’s involvement in the project.
